Who is George Soros?
A Hungarian by birth, George Soros is most notable for being one of the wealthiest people alive, although this is hardly what defines him.
According to this Forbes article, the billionaire began as a railway porter and waiter, fleeing from his native country and devoting himself to work in order to put himself through The London School of Economics and learn more about George Soros.
This led to a start in finance at a merchant bank before finally settling in New York City where he struck gold on Wall Street. According to Open Society Foundations, as of today, Soros has given away $12 billion to organizations dedicated to fighting for freedom of expression and holding governments accountable.
Using his fortune to found the Open Society Foundations, Soros has been devoted to promoting freedom and supporting underdogs since 1979. His first effort was providing scholarships for black South Africans under the terror of apartheid.
